How to choose a good plastic pallet mold maker? Recycled HDPE is normally used to make plastic pallet samples production. The critical is to reduce the cooling time and requested cycle time must be reached. Normally BeCu inserts must be used in order to achieve a good cooling of plasticpallet mold. Hot runner valve gate design can be used to reduce cycle time, plastic pallet injection mold has the technical basic information:

1. Mold cavity: Single cavity
   
2. Injection machine: 1600T- 2500T
3. Mold cavity and core steel: P20,718 or #45 if production is not too much etc.
4. Plastic material: Recycled PP or Recycled HDPE
5. Mold life: 300000- 500000 shots
6. Type of gate: Hot runner
7. Ejection system: ejector pins
8. Cycle time: 70s-120s ( BeCu inserts can be an option )
9. Lead time for mould: 75 days
10. Transportation package: wooden case

• Pallet is produced with 100% recycle material ( Either HDPE / PP / LLDPE / MDPE and some time Blow molding grades). So you might have to consider the shrinkage factors based on the recycle materials.
• Commonly for the PP material the shrinkage factor is 1.5% , but when we add the 10% caco3 with virgin material we will consider the shrinkage factor is 1.4%
• Normally the shrinkage factor for virgin material as below

PP – 1.5 to 2.5 %

HDPE – 2.0 to 3.5 %

LDPE – 2.0 to 3.5 %

Quality Control

Calipers and CMM measuring equipment must be used to check critical dimensions of plastic injection moulds, some important points must be check 3 or 4 times and come up with dimension reports, for all "NG" points, we will check them again and know how to improve on the moulds.
